Enrichment Choices & Descriptions By Grade Level
5th & 6th Grade Options
- Book Club- Come enjoy independent reading time and discuss your favorite authors!
- Karaoke Club- Come enjoy live karaoke as you sing along to your favorite songs!
- Drawing Club (2 sections)- Unlock creativity with pencil and paper! Drawing books will be available. We will work on different skills to make our drawings better (shading, crosshatching, perspective, etc...)
- Board Games, Cards, & Puzzles Club (2 sections) - Come join us for rounds of awesome competition! This club is for those that enjoy working puzzles and playing board games and card games like Sorry, Guess Who, and Headbands UNO, Trash, or Speed!
- Student Council (*Year long Enrichment class)- Do you want to represent your grade level, run for school president, treasurer, or secretary? Do you want to use your voice and ideas to make the school better for all students? Then Student Council is for you!
- Travel Club- Come take a virtual trip around the world and explore life around the globe
- Outside Kickball & Football (2 sections) - This club is for those students who enjoy playing organized sports/physical activities. Dress comfortably and look forward to having competitive fun with your peers! This is not hangout and/or socialize club.
- Acting (performing arts)- Come put your Hollywood skills to use in this acting class!
- Sign language- Learn how to communicate without saying a word.
- Tech Kids Club (Enhancing Technology) - Join us to put your technology skills to use!
- Reading Room- Keep Calm & D.E.A.R (Drop Everything and Read).
- Cooking Club- Get ready to create tasty treats with us!
- Health Club- Psychology helps us better understand others and ourselves.
- Mariners Matter (Social Emotional activities and circle talks)- It’s ok to be “In My Feelings” like Drake, let’s talk it out with activities!
- Arts & Crafts Creations (2 sections)- Stress free creative drawing and coloring.
- Chess Club-Students will have the opportunity to learn and play chess via exploring "The Art of War", ancient battle tactics , and strategies of the game which will hone their critical thinking skills.
- Gardening- students will learn how to garden in small spaces and use recyclables as flower pots and vegetable gardens.
- Art & Ballet Folklorico- The course is designed to teach students the cultural dances of Mexico, their historical, geographical, and sometimes mythological roots as well as the significance of the costumes. Some dances incorporate indigenous instruments. This course will help students learn some skills of dance, improve self-confidence and creative ability as well as deepening their understanding of and appreciation for the rich and colorful heritage that each dance represents.
7th & 8th Grade Options
- Puzzles (ex. jigsaw) (2 sections)- Students will use their visual and spatial reasoning skills to construct puzzles. Students will put their logical thinking skills to the test as they solve a variety of puzzles (Sudoku, Rebus, Crossword).
- Typing- Sign up to play your favorite card games which include Uno, Euchre, Spades, War, Spoons, and others.
- Walking- Enjoy and explore nature while walking
- Writing Club
- Arts & Crafts Club- Unleash your creativity with the arts & crafts you can create in this club! Crafts include coloring and mini art projects. Arts/crafts is where we'll work on various craft projects using different materials!
- Student Council (*Year long Enrichment class)- Do you want to represent your grade level, run for school president, treasurer, or secretary? Do you want to use your voice and ideas to make the school better for all students? Then Student Council is for you!
- Anime (2 sections)- Are you interested in cartoons about witches and wizards, robots, superheroes, samurai and fairies? Want to know more about famous shows like Pokémon and Naruto? Join the ANIME club and you will discover all of these and many more. Interested students have an opportunity to share their love of Japanese animation and comics, and to learn about various facets of anime and Japanese culture.
- Chess/Checkers (2 sections)-Learn different strategies to out think and overcome your opponent! Students will learn strategies in utilizing patience and analytical skills while having fun playing Chess and Checkers.
- Cooking & Baking- For those who are eager to explore new foods, expand their palate, and experiment with different recipes as we develop the art of mixing, baking, and cooking.
- Games - We will learn to play a variety of games and other means of collaboratively indulging in entertainment and friendly competition.
- Coloring- coloring sheets from cultures, entertainment, sports, and geometric designs; there will be a contest for first, second, and third place coloring at each class meeting.
- Yoga-Enjoy calm and stillness of your mind while harmonizing your body and spirit.
- Ultimate Frisbee- Ultimate is a game played on a soccer field that blends the rules of football and soccer. It involves a lot of running and of course, a lot of fun! If you are interested in learning the rules, getting better at throwing a Frisbee, and having a great time, join up!
- Reading Club- The Project Lit Reading Club consists of teachers and students coming together to access and discuss culturally diverse books and connect with other readers across the country to promote a love of reading.
- Photography- Learn the basics of using your phone camera and how to avoid common photography mistakes. Once you get the hang of this process, you’ll be taking photos that will amaze your friends and have them wondering how you do it!
- Social Issues- "Bring your favorite board games or learn to play the classics with your friends!"
- AMEND- This class is geared toward building self confidence and sharpening public speaking and leadership skills. If you are a young man interested in careers that involve leading or being in the public eye, this class is for you!
- Technology/Media Club - Computers- Students will work on several practical and hands-on projects using multimedia such as Movie Maker.
- Basketball Tournament- Students will run basketball tournaments in order to facilitate and teach healthy competition.
- Piano & Guitar- students will be introduced to beginner playing technique on piano or guitar (room for 12 students)
- Multicultural Club- create activities that help our school celebrate Marshall’s amazing cultural diversity
